Ethnic-Russian Ukrainians living in the east of Ukraine in 2014 were not "Russia-aligned." They were linguistically, culturally, religiously, and historically Russian, similar to Mexican-Americans living in the U.S. southwest not being "Mexico-aligned" but Mexican-American.
Russians settled the Donbas and Novorossiya in the 1860's at Catherine the Great's urging after she conquered those territories and incorporated them into Russia. Lenin drew those areas into the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic when it was formed in 1922 so that the Ukrainian SSR would include an ethnic-Russian population.
"Russian-aligned" implies that the inhabitants of the Donbas and Novorossiya were politically and ideologically "aligned" with Russia. This is not correct. They were Ukrainian; their forebears had lived there for 250 years. Kiev did not declare ethnic war on this population because they were "aligned" with Russia. Ukrainian Nazis declared war on them because they spoke Russian, worshipped in Russian Orthodox churches, and were not sufficiently "Ukrainian" -- whatever that means -- but culturally and historically Russian.
You know Putin did say that he would target US Officials and their office and he is not a terrorist like Nuland or our 1% controlled congress.

The people in Washington are bonafide terrorist, as such according to their own “Patriot Act” are not entitled to a lawyer, can be put on a no fly list so can’t escape the county, qualify for water boarding and even the Guantanamo Bay detention camp OR they could be consider too dangerous, liked Osama bin Ladin to be trusted for judicial review, so then, just killed and dumped into the ocean.
If Americans don’t want to clean up their own Mafia controlled government we could always ask Putin in Russia how to clean it up in the US right! Putin does know how to handle the oligarchs in Russia, so perhaps we can ask him to handle our problem here before it it too late.

Thank you Ralph! I'll take it one step further by saying the situation in Ukraine is all about trying to prevent Russia from heading to the Middle East and succeeding! I forget where I read it but it stated, the greatest fear of those truly in charge in DC - is that Putin will win and succeed at bringing peace to the middle east. Is also boils down to the race for control of the new trade routes. The way I see it Putin played his hand brilliantly, not only did he drag NATO into this war but now everyone involved, has been depleted of everything and doesn't stand a chance once this escalates and moves on to the Middle East. Meanwhile just the exact opposite holds true for Russia China, Iran, Turkey et al. They have amassed the largest military force and weaponry. Russia, China and Turkey all have 2 million "trained" troops ready to go and we all know Russia also has the most sophisticated armaments in the world. I truly believe Putin deliberately lured them into this for this very reason.
