Long rewarded by Washington and NATO for undermining diplomacy with Russia, Zelensky grew confrontational -- and told outright falsehoods -- when Donald Trump and JD Vance told him to make peace.
This is a much appreciated post. In the Democratic Party "Glory to the Heroes" information space any mention of Minsk is usually met with blank stares or bald lies. The massive death and destruction, the de-alignment of Russia with the West, etc., etc., could have been avoided if Minsk had been faithfully implemented. Minsk's failure is due to the West. As Angela Merkel said, it was only agreed to as a ruse which allowed Ukraine to ramp up its militarization.
Wise, informed and true, Aaron. Zelensky has been The Empire's marionette, hired to implement the insane, ineffectual baiting of Russia, to "weaken" it, which could never have worked. The Empire's owners need controlled war to continue vampirically bleeding the American people for their obscene blood wealth, and depriving them of all that should be theirs.
The Capitalist War Machine that runs our rotten government is destroying America, while asking for a real war that will obliterate it.
Another wonderful piece of journalism Aaron, it's a tragedy that people have embraced so enthusiastically the narrative around zelensky, from where I come, he's been hailed as a new Churchill, something that beggars belief. You've mentioned particular points that sadly never get a mention in the MSM, truth unfortunately can sully the most crafted of public images. That the Ukrainian delegates at the Istanbul talks, said Russia was making the most concessions speaks volumes, unfortunately Putin is bad and Ukraine is the victim, this mantra has been driven home with a horrible zeal.
Zelensky is a con artist, full stop. He was elected by voters to come to a modus vivendi with Russia. Instead, with full backing of the US, he became willing proxy in Blinken/Biden's attempt to turn Russia away from China by force. Zelensky's government declaring Ukraine would take back breakaway provinces in 2021, and violently reneging on other Minsk II treaty terms. All with European "guarantors" UK and France doing and saying nothing. Since the beginning of the war, Zelensky's government has lied, engaged in terrorism, shelled a nuclear power plant and lied about that too, brutalized their own population, and torpedoed negotiations.
What happened was hopefully educational for some who needed to see it. Trump and his team are correct that the conflict is doing nothing positive for anyone, and the sooner it is settled the better. But the likelyhood of a deal with Russia is limited, because US policy isn't really trustworthy enough for a deal in the first place - most unfortunately. Trump's presence reduces that trust even further, since there are factions in the US who want him out and will surely not respect any deal he makes when his term expires. The lowest common denominator solution here is they'll just replace Zelensky with someone else - and hopefully reduce the intensity of the conflict.
I repeatedly saw support for Zelensky's position on Facebook, and it was very obvious their support is solely based on their hatred of Trump since the comments reflected mostly ignorance on many levels, as well as blaming him for the blow up.
Russia was always presented as our biggest threat, and they want to keep it that way. They vilified Trump in his first term for wanting to get along with Russia, so now we have a repeat implemented by the democrats. Hopefully the left will not jump on board as they did during his first term, and I don't say this as someone who sees Trump as a gem.
Thanks to the author for taking the time to carefully analyse this farce that has cost the lives and livelihoods of many Ukrainian and Russian citizens. The US foreign policy is very good at one thing: Sowing chaos, death and destruction in the name of Democracy. Until this becomes too expensive and/or fails it's primary purpose. Then, we throw the idiots under the bus and move on to the next victim. Not for much longer though.
Shall we bet a dollar and donut when Rachel Maddow, or anyone in the MSM, will show this video? She recently did a segment to the effect of "a new Trump-Putin plot"; the plot is likely peace in Ukraine, what a horrid thought.
Oh, what she's doing is straight out of the "Rachel Maddow playbook," and we don't need 51 "intelligence professionals" to figure that out. We just need common sense.
And she's not the only one. Bernie Sanders is also trying to reignite russophobia. It embarrasses me when I think that I once voted for him.
This is a wonderful fact-based article. Angela Merkel et al. disclosed that Minsk II was designed to buy time so that Ukraine could build up its military to fight the Separatists and Russia. The two videos, 'Agent Zelensky' by Scott Ritter, support much of this article, including the immense wealth and property Zelensky has received. This si also identified in the Panama Papers.
I do not know how to spell this out to you all but I am going to try.
I have lost my best friend (French) who for some reason HATES Russia.
I tried to talk calmly to her BUT she is married to a German!
What I would like to ask Aaron is one question because it is missed: Russia lost 27+ million people fighting for Europe AGAINST the Nazi German Empire.
Germany was taken into the EU why was Russia left out?
A much-needed succinct review of the history and the current state of events. I particularly liked the direct reference to the late Stephen F. Cohen whom I remember with great respect…
This is the first time I fully understand what happened. I didn't see any clear reporting that explained this encounter. The NY Post said Zelensky had a meeting with democrats before his meeting with Trump and Vance, and was encouraged not to accept the mineral deal. I don't know if that is true, but my trust in the democrats is almost nil since I know the Biden administration was culpable in using Ukrainian lives to bring down Russia, and Biden was quite lucid when he said Putin has got to go. The continued influence of the neocons in the democratic party no doubt plays a significant role in their decisions. I really fear more then ever the reality of a nuclear war.
Thanks, Aaron. Excellent summation of not only the Oval Office blowup but also the events leading up to Russia’s intervention. Also, once again we see the utter war-mongering depravity of Genocide Joe Biden and his neocon cabal of Blinken, Nuland, and Sullivan, along with a pliant Congress totally in the pocket of the Military-Industrial-Complex.
True Z. played his cards wrong over and over again. Yet we kept feeding him money to stay in the game. Why: war hawks mindset to bleed Russia with Ukrainian blood. And boy did Ukraine bleed as did Russia giving the war hawks their wet dream. And as we are seeing this house of cards collapsed. We need change comrades:
Organized, logical, well reasoned and factually supported as always, Aaron. It is beyond distressing how Zelensky is knighted and sainted; just this morning a post on LinkedIn ranted about the Oval Office meeting, and cited someone as a true leader - ending with a photograph of him in his trademark dark shirt.
Search for photos of him meeting with Trump 1.0 in the Oval Office: clean shaven, a suit and tie, looking like the president of a small country. With all the money US taxpayers have poured in, can he no longer buy nice clothes?
I saw on X that Prince Z had been puffed up by Susan Rice and a few others before his arrival. What I saw on FB made me laugh and then just shake my head - out comes the new emblem for support of Ukraine. Their newfound support (never mind the billions that we sent to murder their population in order to screw Russia and still more to come) is for what? Oh, now I remember - they are still suffering from TDS.
Aaron, once again, laying out the facts.

I really loathe and detest Churchill. He was a racist warmonger.

Very obvious. They'd rather hate Trump than accept peace from him.

WHO will deal with the USA? Constantly crossing red lines.
Thankfully Russia knows what is going on and will 'deal' with Trump in the appropriate manner.
I actually don't think Trump wants a 'deal.'
As for Europe (where I am living) the 'die is cast.' Turn away from Russia or deal with the USA?
As for all this 'mineral talk' it is nothing but propaganda.
We all know the USA is defunct and can't make anything/Russia knows this.

Looks to me like some folks would be better off sticking to playing the piano with their pecker.
Don't forget The Cossack Dance! Did you see that?

This must have been his audition top for becoming the leader. Notice, too, how he manages to "stand tall."
(I'll make a passing reference to "western values.")

America.
The French might still be sore about what the Russians did to Napoleon and his army.
Nah.
Capitalism.

I sure do miss Professor Cohen. We could all use his sage words at this time. Fortunately, Aaron is helping in this most necessary task.

The recently released JFK Files has an entry where JFK Jr (deceased) called Biden a Traitor. No details.

When did clothes matter?
Look at the present so-called Syrian leader.....now in Armani suits!
Truth matters NOT clothes.
This was an Empire thing!
I should have noted that I was being ironic. The comparison of the two photos is nonetheless intriguing.
Understand.
I saw on X that Prince Z had been puffed up by Susan Rice and a few others before his arrival. Very glad to have this longer view of the negotiations.
I've been wondering what the many cease fires were that Zelensky claims Russia violated or refused to uphold--or if they ever existed at all?
